During the last six months since my previous newsletter to you in March of this year, SASOG's affairs have been directed by a number of executive committee meetings and a full Council meeting in Johannesburg in September. Amongst several other initiatives, discussed below, much time and energy has been expended on the organization and implementation of the very successful XIX FIGO World Congress held in Cape Town from the 4th – 9th October, 2009.

I would like to firstly pay tribute to the outgoing council for the outstanding service which they rendered to the Society over the last three years. In particular, I congratulate Prof. Franco Guidozzi on the exceptional leadership qualities which he displayed in guiding the Society and instituting a number of new developments. Furthermore Prof. Guidozzi's remarkable abilities in obtaining financial support for the Society and hence the wellbeing of women in our country must be acknowledged and applauded.

The last 4 months have been particularly busy and especially important for our society. We managed to visit 4 centres’ during our Presidential Roadshow, namely Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town. We had a wonderful turnout and response in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, but unfortunately no so in Pretoria.
