GUIDELINES FOR AWARDING SPONSORSHIP FOR RESEARCH

  1. Applicant must submit protocol including aims, methodology, outcome measures, statistics and provide a synopsis of its value from a South African perspective.
  2. Protocol must include any questionnaires that are part of the research.
  3. Ethics approval from university based ethics committee must accompany the application.
  4. Full cost analysis and likely costs incurred must have been completed and submitted.
  5. Applicant must be the primary investigator.
  6. Research project must be feasible, attainable and have realistic outcome measures.
  7. Ceiling of R30 000 per application per year for maximum of 3 years only.
  8. One unit can obtain a sponsorship to a maximum of R30 000 per annum.
  9. Ongoing financial support will only be for consideration once applicant has provided an annual progress report.
  10. Any publication emanating from the research must acknowledge SASOG’s contribution.
  11. The committee will consider each application and will provide its decision within 4 weeks of receiving the application.
  12. The applicant must provide the research proposal in electronic form so that it can be dispersed to all the members of the Research Committee electronically. The committee’s decision is final.
  13. Ron White will chair the committee and will liaise with the members of the committee and the applicants.
  14. Applicants must be SASOG members and must be up-to-date with their annual subscriptions.

SPONSORSHIP TO ATTEND CONGRESSES

  1. Registrars will be favoured if they are presenting at a biennial SASOG National Congress. SASOG will pay their registration and one night of accommodation. The presentation can be oral or as a poster.
  2. If a registrar requests sponsorship for costs incurred for only attending a biennial SASOG National Congress, consideration will only be given to part sponsorship and the amount will be at the discretion of the Research Committee. Ceiling of R3 000
  3. Requests for sponsorship by consultants/specialists obstetricians and gynaecologists, be they in full time practice or in private practice, will only be considered if he/she is registered at a biennial SASOG National Congress for an oral presentation. The amount granted will be at the discretion of the Research Committee.
  4. Proof of acceptance for the oral or poster presentation must accompany the application for sponsorship.
  5. Consideration for sponsorship to attend an overseas congress will only be considered if the applicant is registered for presentation, the applicant is the first or sole author of the presentation and it will only be for part sponsorship at the discretion of the Research Committee. Ceiling of R6 000.
     

AWARDING ANY SPONSORSHIP WILL ONLY BE CONSIDERED IF THE APPLICANT IS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF SASOG AND HAS FULLY PAID HIS/HER ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION.
